FAQ

If you have purchased a commercial AVG 8.0 product, but still running the AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition, you will need to install your purchased AVG 8.0 product.
AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition will be uninstalled automatically from your computer during the installation of your commercial AVG 8.0 product.

To install AVG:

• Follow the download links for AVG products and save the installation file to your hard disk.
• Choose the correct AVG product from the list displayed and click on the “Paid version” link. 
• On the next page, the installation file corresponding to your AVG product will be shown, save this file to your desktop. 
• Double-click the file on your desktop and follow the steps indicated in the setup program to begin installing your AVG.

You will be prompted to enter your AVG License Number during the installation process. We recommend that you use the copy & paste method to enter your AVG License Number into the appropriate field.

Please note that the AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition has the following limitations: 

• AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition includes only basic anti-virus and anti-spyware protection. 
• AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition has no technical support! 
• AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition does not include a firewall, anti-spam, and anti-rootkit feature. 
• AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition does not include HTTP Scanner, AVG Active Surf Shield and Instant Messaging Protection. 
• AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition cannot be installed on server operating systems (such as Windows Server 2003). 
• According to our license policy, it is prohibited to install and use AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition in a network environment. 
• Scheduling options in the AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition are very limited (only one scheduled update per day, one scheduled scan per day etc.). 
• AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition does not have guaranteed access to high-speed servers for downloading updates and program upgrades. 
• AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition does not offer advanced testing options, such as password-protected archives reporting, adjustment of scan process priority and many others. 
• AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition is available in English, Japanese and Italian language only.

Please note that all commercial versions have the following benefits: 

• 1 or 2-year license that includes free program upgrades and definition database updates for the full license duration. 
• Free support and service around the clock and across the globe. 
• Top-quality protection without slowing your system down. 
• Real-time security while you surf and chat online. 
• Auto-scheduled updating and scanning (many more configuration options can be adjusted according to user needs and preferences). 
• Multiple language support - English, Brazilian Portuguese, Czech, Danish, Dutch, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese, Serbian, Slovak, Spanish, are supported at the moment; additional languages are under development.

The AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition is licensed for personal, home use on a single computer. According to the AVG Anti-Virus Free License Policy and License Agreement, the following are strictly prohibited: 

• Professional or commercial use (including non-profit organizations). 
• Installation and use on more than one computer per user (single user). 
• Installation and use in network environments.
